It's A Date No Matter How You Look At It. Seriously, etc. is chapter 68 of the Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai light novel series. It is chapter nine of volume six.

Summary[]

As they shop, Sena asks Kodaka for suggestions on what present she should buy for Kobato. After a series of attempts to purchase items, Kodaka tells Sena about Kobato's fondness for meat, causing Sena to mistake it as her and retorts when Kodaka corrects her. Though Sena considers it rude at first, she saves buying Kobato food as a birthday present as a last resort.

Kodaka and Sena soon found themselves slightly exhausted as they still had not find any fitting birthday present for Kobato. As Sena intends on skipping the household appliances section of the store, Kodaka insists otherwise and the two shop there where he ultimately purchases numerous cookware appliances after an hour, much to Sena's annoyance.

In a cafe, Sena points out to Kodaka that girls take a long amount of time to shop though Kodaka calls her out for acting the opposite. Sena asks Kodaka about his thoughts towards the other girls in the club. Seeing as the question confuses him, Sena proceeds in asking Kodaka of wanting a girlfriend. Kodaka answers that he has no plans for the time being as his current goal is to make friends and, considering himself as a 'boring guy', wonders if ever he can get a girlfriend. After Sena makes a vague expression towards Kodaka's answer, Kodaka asks Sena about her thoughts of knowing about his and Yozora's past friendship. Sena nonchalantly answers that she found the matter to be trivial as she states that it only exists in the past and that the present is what really matters. Though quite irritated by her answer, Kodaka agrees as Sena wonders on Yozora thoughts about her past friendship with Kodaka and adds that she has no plans of losing to her.

Receiving Rika's text message, Sena and Kodaka decide to head to their location. As they were about to ride the elevator, Sena tells Kodaka that she is not interested being in the company of a boring person, leaving Kodaka puzzled.

Arriving outside the entrance of the building, Kodaka and Sena immediately find Yozora wearing a black jersey all the while complimenting on Rika's and Yukimura's new and casual wear respectively. As Sena intends for them on buying a present for Kobato as a group, her club-mates, instead, decide to call it a day and head back home, much to Sena's annoyance. The Neighbor's Club then leave Nagaya City without buying any birthday presents for Kobato.
