Summary[]
It was the first day of the New Year. Kodaka, Kobato and their father Hayato had been invited to the Kashiwazaki Estate for New Year's dinner. The Kashiwazakis were all present, including Yozora who had been living at the estate for almost four months now. She hardly goes home now, indicating her relationship with her mother hasn't gotten any better. The Kashiwazakis were all dressed formally, while the Hasegawas dressed casually, bothering Kodaka.

While they're eating, Tenma sets his utensils aside and calls out to Yozora, who was still chewing her food. He asks if she'd like to become an official member of the Kashiwazaki household, shocking, Kobato and Kodaka. Yozora, unable to choose her words, is interrupted by Tenma who clarifies, asking if she'd like to be adopted into the family. He explains that he took it upon himself to look into her family situation, and that he and Sena had thought adopting her into the family best. He states she doesn't need to choose now just when Yozora interrupts him "NO," prompting Sena to demand why. "Even though she's that kind of person, she's still my mother. I've had other opportunities to leave her in the past. I had one when my parents divorced... and when I worked part-time in a used bookstore before, the owner offered to adopt me as well. However, I don't want to reject all the choices I've made up until now. No matter how many times I'm hurt, no matter how many mistakes I make... I absolutely don't want to betray myself... because that's who I am." She then jokes that furthermore, she doesn't want to become Sena's little sister either. Kodaka thinks to himself how cool Yozora is when Stella decides to speak up, "Well, Yozora doesn't need to become an adopted daughter of our household. Sooner or later she will become my successor, serving the Kashiwazaki household as a butler. In this way, she'll be covertly controlling the Kashiwazaki family, their lands, money and authority, hers to use as she desires... that will truly make her a winner at life." This utterly shocks both Sena and Tenma, Sena of which demands to know if that's true. Stella turns to Yozora with a smile, asking her if that would be acceptable. Yozora agrees, stating, rather than being the dog to a rich family, she wouldn't mind covertly controlling them.
This later became known as the start of the prologue of Yozora's legend as the 'Secret Grand Chancellor of the Kashiwazaki family' who would shake up the world of politics...
